fullbleed on jpod + more bootleg tees

posted 7 months ago by dobi

fullbleed was on a canadian show called jpod, i’ve never heard of it...

and here is my dilemma, i found someone within the US selling pirated tees. they did a pretty good job w/ the prints too, but they were slightly sloppy and made one mistake that made me realize they are bootlegs. here is the kicker, he isn’t even that far away. i am thinking about ordering one to get his address and then getting the police involved, can anything actually be done if someone is selling counterfeit items?

I was going to suggest that, myself. Kick his dog while you’re there.

He is clearly infringing your copyright. I don’t think police will get involved. This is more of a lawyer type of thing. I nice well written letter in order to scare him and make him stop printing your designs will do the trick.

I would think that counterfeiting is above the local police. I think this actually steps into government agency territories?

jPod is based on the novel by Douglas Coupland. I’ve read the book, and keep forgetting there’s a show. It’s one of the funniest books i’ve ever read, and recommend it to everyone.

as far as the bootlegs, i don’t think cops can do anything. It’s copyright infringement, so it’s probably a lawyer thing like manos said.

I don’t know about where in the US we are talking about, but here in Miami,FL police do get involved with counterfeit items being sold. There’s always busts of people selling counterfeit Tommy Hilfiger, Prada, Ralph Lauren, etc. I don’t see how this wouldn’t fall into the same category.

You might want to call the Attorney General’s Office in the state and see if they have any advice on how to proceed if the police won’t do anything for you first.

Yeah, cops and even FBI are always raiding flea markets and even street vendor in nyc. Those are bigger companies, but I don’t seee how size would matter.

Legally you are supposed to send a cease and desist letter where you can ask for their entire inventory of that shirt so they dont continue selling. I dont know how to go about it but I am sure your lawyer would know!

  22. justgeoff - Geoff May avatar

    justgeoff said 7 months ago

Hire a lawyer to write up a cease and desist. It should only take an hour or so of his time to do it.

the main character wears a lot of really well designed stuff.

    i love this show.

the book is awesome, but i was a little down on the show for the first few episodes but its getting better. The one thing that won me over was a line in ep 3 when cowboy nearly hooked up with his sister:

"what do you expect, our parents died in a murder/suicide pact"
    "worst Christmas ever"

the way he said it had laughing for ages afterwards!

  31. Randomentity - Courtney Varner avatar

i was saddened at the lack of evil mark.
i don’t know how much you’ve seen, but they made evil mark the guy that died from inhaling helium. and is actually the scene that dobi posted.

    they also put in the
"why are you walking around with a giant knife?"
"oh, we’re trying to see if you can carry a knife this big around and not look insane. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE! Wanna try?"

yeh i saw that ep, i was hoping they were going to introduce him later on as in the book it said he’d only started a couple of weeks before katlin....

the guy that plays the dad is quite possibly the worst actor ever!

  33. Randomentity - Courtney Varner avatar

    Randomentity said 7 months ago

    Alan Thicke?!
I’ve seen him somewhere else anc i can’t think of where now. i’m no judge of bad acting, he doesn’t seem that bad to me.
i was disappointed by the portrayal of Kam Fong, i imagined him as younger and hipper.

  34. noFunk - Dan avatar

    noFunk said 7 months ago

maybe hes not a bad actor, but the way he plays the dad just bugs me, he plays it so slapstick and unrealistic (not that its a very realistic show but hes just so over the top)

yeh i thought Kam Fong would be younger, in the book hes meant to be really intimidating but still on the same wave length as the jpod guys. in the show hes just kind of there. The guy that plays Cowboy is awesome, he’s exactly how i imagined he’d look and act!

In the book didn’t it turn out that Katlin wasn’t really fat she just made it up? also whats the deal with her having a kid, that wasn’t in the book was it?
