the cintiq is especially good if you go all digital. i do all my sketches and layouts with the cintiq, and it is much faster now. i had become so proficient with my intuos that i didnt think the cintiq do that much for me, but i could never go back. best investment you can make if you are a digital illustrator.
Oh man, itd be like Star Wars, "youll be more powerful than you can imagine"
Guaranteed. I spend 2K on mine, knowing how it has changed my life, cured world hunger, as well as my lung cancer, I would have gladly given 3K for it.
Srsly, for a real deal illustrator like yourself, it would only be a HUGE asset.

I was wondering which one you had... Im really considering getting the $1000 one, cant swing 2 grand though ;0(
I just cant get used to my wacom... luckly it was a company issue and I didnt have to pay for it.

Why not buy one with the dirty money you got from Teextile You scroundrel! Jokes jokes.
I think even the $1000 would be good. I havent used that one, but I bet its tight. 20SWX is one huge mother so its pretty cumbersome to move with. I think the $1000 is almost portable. or IS portable. Thatd be awesome to have.

danidraws.com uses one. shes on twitter, and draws in the morning on ustream, maybe you can catch her?
I got the 12wx and its full of win. The drawing area is still bigger than most tablets?
The only difference is I guess you will technically zoom out more often with the smaller screen? I dont know.
The motions I use for drawing dont take up much space, and I move the canvas more than my arm. Id like to have the big one kind of like Id enjoy a corvette, I guess. Not really because its necessary.

Yeah, I have the same as you and it feels like a decent size, I have no complaints, although Im sure having a huge one would be way better.
P.S. Your Avatar, is that a preview of a new design or something? It looks cool!
I got the big one, and I could never look back. its AMAZING. My linework has doubled, my undos have been cut in more than half, and theres no substitute for looking at what youre actually drawing. Bigger is better, I mean why would you draw on computer paper when you could draw on 11 x 17 bristol? Do it man, and then write it off and laugh at the IRS.
Its been a while since this was posted, any more feedback on these?
seriously considering getting one, pretty good prices at the moment (but perhaps that means a new model soon?)
my Cintiq is so awesome that if I had that extra cash I could buy a second to work on two at once, and I wouldnt mind the small one for my laptop either. I had to work forever to make the money to pay this off but it was worth it
also I save all my illustrator actions as buttons on the tablet so I cant automatically do stuff like "select all/same stroke color and expand" or select all/fill-color and pathfind/add to shape area" plus having "ctrl+z" and space-bar right on the Cintiq helps me a lot. I still havent started using the buttons on the actual stylus yet
Everyone pretty much hit it on the head up above. Mainly I like mine because you can view a reference image on one screen and draw directly on the other. The shortcut/quick keys on both sides makes everything go a lot smoother and faster. Check it:

its 1,000$ though and im not sure if any companies offer a student discount?!
I e-mailed Wacom about it and awaiting a reply but Im really loving the feedback in this thread on what its done for people.
It takes me sometimes FOREVER to get that perfect pen flick to get my line just right cause i have to stare at the computer and not at the tablet.
I know this will help me SOOO much
but yeah, if anyone knows of like some super good online stores to buy from that offer it cheaper please link me :]

If your going to buy it thinking itll make your linework better youre wrong. You shouldnt give up on your bamboo or intuos. So early in your career just keep practicing, do it for everything not just art. SPEND LESS TIME ON EMPTEES and more time Practicing. Procrastination is your biggest deterrent. So 6 months, a year, whatever it may be from now when you truly grasp your current tablet and youve "perfected" that flick the best you could than consider it. In my opinion at this point itd be worthless for you.
Im pretty sure vistek offers student discounts on tablets if Im not mistaken.

i can see what you mean.
i guess i was looking at it more from a workflow perspective, I know it wont improve my line quality drastically but it will DEFINANTLY cut the amount of times I have to undo a stroke in half as someone mentioned.
just gets frustrating having to repeat the same line 20+ times when i know if i have the screen on the tablet I could nail it in 1-3 flicks tops! instead of 15-20+ sometimes :/
15-20 sounds like you just need time to nail it. Furthermore learning how to make a stroke properly is key aswell. If youre using photoshop Cs4 than using the rotate canvas tool so your making strokes that conform to the natural angle your wrist makes rather than having your wrist conform to the angle your drawing at.

yeah.
another problem for me.
I have a PC and I dont have the system requirements that allow me to rotate my canvas with the tool :/ Cause it needs like some high tech video card or something, same with the hand tool how you can flick ur work and it glides, cant do that either... only on the iMacs at school can i do that stuff
I have to select all my layers and rotate it manually with the transform tool which is not TOOOO much of a hassle.
Im stupid though and only recently realized i could have fixed that problem a while ago

get manga studio. you will be able to rotate your canvas then.
and dont buy a new tablet. stick with the one you have.

but this would work on PC right, none of wacoms products are limited by what system you have right?! unlike adobe programs for example...
cause thats a GOOOOD price
