I know these realistic pieces look really cool now but in less then 5 years they’ll be really faded and look like ass. If your looking for a tattoo that’ll last you need outlines and as much black saturation as possible. If you do black & grey realism it’ll hold up so much better.

COMPLETELY agree with Cutty.

The only base for saying they’re going to "fade" is because we only have the old tattoos to look at.
I HATE when people ask what im going to do when i’m 80 and you wont be able to tell what they are and blah blah blah. The process, the machines, the inks, the needles, EVERYYYTHING is different. I’ve done plenty of tattoos on people with out even using a liner one time, and they look juuuuust like they did when i first put them on, which was 3 or 4 years ago. Whites and everything.

so if you’re tattoos are terribly fading, maybe you should look into a different artist?

One thing you overlook is the changing elasticity of the skin. So everything tattood on / in the skin will change with it. Agreed, it will not happen in 5 to 10 years, but it becomes noticeable after 35 and then develops gradually. Some areas are more prone to change than others, but arms are one of them. Unless you work out all the time or keep your skin stretched by getting fat...

Apart from that, colors also fade due to UV light.

Well Kyle Cotterman agrees with me so I’ll take his opinions over yours! The industry has come a long way but I think you’ll have a hard time finding someone to agree with you that no lines and little black saturation is going to lead to a long lasting tattoo. Bold will hold.
