thrice, earth & air are beyond amazing cds. I've had them on loop for the last few days.
explodingtoes said 4 months ago
earth is soooo good. i havent paid much attention to air.
a killer wombat said 4 months ago
yeah man... i think earth is a better cd all around. The Earth Isn't Humming has to be one of the most epic acoustic based songs I have ever heard. So powerful and commanding like people lining up to go into battle. But air for me is such an awesome cd for guitar effects (which I really like) and lyrically its amazing.
But son, please keep a steady wing
And know your the only one that means anything to me
Steer clear of the sun, or you'll find yourself in the sea
Wont you look at your wings
They're coming undone
They're splitting at the seams
Steer clear of the sun, for once wont you listen to me?
Oh God!
Why is this happening to me?
All I wanted was new life for my son to grow up free
And now you took the only thing that meant anything to me
I'll never fly again, I'll hang up my wings
.... amazing.
explodingtoes said 4 months ago
The Earth Isn't Humming is a Frodus cover...don't know if you knew that. Check out the original version... the album is "we washed our weapons in the sea" or something like that. Its neat to see what Thrice did with it.
a killer wombat said 4 months ago
yeah man, my friend told me about that a while ago. I am just talking about more of the overall tone of the song. How powerful they made the acoustic guitars sound. That amazed me.
explodingtoes said 4 months ago
definitely impressive given the original, which is heavily bass driven. i think 'come all you weary' is the best song out of all four parts of the album(s)
I can't get enough!
