Help me decide guys.....

posted 6 months ago by ThinkBaker

On which layout I should paint.

This is for the new Clive Barker film, "The Midnight Meat Train"

It’s gonna be very monochromatic.

Just can’t decide which layout I like the best.

Which would you like to see go further?

Sorry, if you can’t make these out. I did them in about 4 mins a piece. just to see something on paper.... er.. on screen.

I’ll throw these in the Sketch/Illy thread in a bit. after I get some feedback.....

for some reason i really like the 1st one, and i hate that you can do something like that in 4 minutes.

Yeah, I like the idea behind the third one alot. I just got REAL sloppy at that point.

It’s supposed to be your looking down the train and you see the Butcher hacking up a body.

(To hang on meat hooks in the subway train of course)

Seems like everyone likes #1... is it just b/c I rendered that one the cleanest?

and the other two are sloppy????

I prefer the the strong blues of the first one, as well as, the-not-so-blatant-gore.

i like the first because you don’t see what the guy sees, just some trails of blood. it leaves some to the imagination

I really like the 1st one, but the POV might be a little cliched (maybe?). Lots of photographic shots of subways are like that.

#3 looks the most interesting to me.

I agree, the first one is framed really well and gives a lot to imagine.

why am i the only one who like the second one the most? It really is the scariest one to me. I wouldn’t get on that subway train.

second one is cool, you’re seeing what the guy looking in the train is seeing. the third one is pretty sick too, the only thing i would change is maybe have the guy looking back while he’s chopping shit up. first one is money

after watching the trailer, i think the third one makes more sense.

I love you guys. Yea, the movie is going hardcore on the Gore. More than what Barker had in the book. BUT that is what I was going for in the first one.... "what the hell is going on in the train?!"

The man would be the 'butcher' holding his bag of tools... dripping with blood. about to board.

the second I was going for the freakyness of seeing bloody hand streaks and looking like there was a struggle and then something was dragged to the back of the train.

The third is just pure gore. (Most like the Movie) just a straight up gore fest with the butcher in action and probably a splattery bloody mess of a train.

    You guys rock.

    Yep, 1.

Leaves more to the imagination than the other 2, which is a good thing to me.

    Thanks for the input guys.

I think I have decided to go with a combo of #1 and 2. But instead of the guy facing the open door, he is leaving,.... and a trail of blood the goes back into the train. and maybe a hint of some sort of struggle of bloody hand prints on the window.

I’ll keep you posted with the results.

    Thanks again Guys.... and Kolby.

    MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN FTW!!!
number 3 has a better consistent tone with the story.
i’m so stoked about that movie. i hope they don’t mess it up.

I actually like 3. But I don’t know the story. To me that has a little more WTF about it?

What’s he doing? Is that blood? etc

    or number 1. Just 'cause I’m a sucker for Noir’ish layouts :)
