Belt print vs. Cut/Sew

posted 5 months ago by matt

I was digging through emptees discussions about all over prints and saw people mentioning both belt printing and cut/sew.

Are there any advantages for going Cut/Sew for that all over print? It sounds like you’d obviously get pattern cropping on all seems and a really high minimum order.

And does belt printing work for hoodies? Anyone have an example of one?

i think the main advantage about cut/sew is that it usually comes out cleaner(because they are no wrinkles) and they can line the images up at the seam.

It really depends on what you are going for with your design. They both would have benefits.
I would say if you are going to print a large image on the front of a shirt. Belt would be the way to go.
If you are going to print a pattern type image. Cut/Sew

By the way the print is around the zipper, I believe the fabric was printed first and then the garment was assembled on this one. Not 100% sure though because that pic is all I have to go from.

    here’s another link
they were definitely done using a belt printer hence the design runs onto the cuffs and waist band.
there were major discrepencies in the design if viewed close up but this was done approx 3 years ago
