So I had to kinda rearrange my schedule for interviews (sorry chris) but I am moving Kyle from Electric Zombie up the line up to coincide with his new line coming out on the 13th... I promise though, sandlin next.
So lets have at it, what do you want to know about kyle?... we have already kinda chatted about some stuff that will make a very good read but we wanna know what you wanna know!
deadline: June 6th 2008
update: talked with kyle and he is down for a contest... and in attempt to get 5 questions for the interview he is going to hook the person with the best question up with a shirt from the new line, and the 4 runner ups will get button packs.
Either way, its going to be a great 13th at I drank your tee.

haha... one of the questions I have been nagging him about for a while, its already listed for the interview.
no need to be a dick in this thread... something he says on here are pretty brash but if you chat with him outside of a message board hes a chill dude. I'm just trying to get some good questions to ask for the interview because even if you love or hate him he is a very good designer.
heroes said 4 months ago
1. do you enjoy working on your own line more or less than working for other individuals
2.who inspire you music wise and artist influence wise
mitchbones said 4 months ago
What are your influences? How do you think they have affected your work and life?
edit: i hate heroes1985 for posting it a few minutes before me.
What would you do for a Klondike bar?
Words of wisdom for a person looking to go into design?
MykeCatastrophic said 4 months ago
I have to agree. EZ can be very blunt and doesn't beat around the bush, but most of the time he's right and knows what he's talking about. People may not always see it as 'constructive' but you should to take what he says and run with it. I mean, just look at this dude's portfolio. I think that should speak for itself.
And wow, a lot of these questions are really good. I can't wait to read this interview!
thebutcher said 4 months ago
haha i was kidding dude. my apologizes to killer wombat too for not being constructive.
a killer wombat said 4 months ago
haha, its all good... i kinda read it as an oxymoron like jumbo shrimp. Everyone was calling him a huge dick but you said that small. Struck me as funny.
Ouchless said 4 months ago
Would you give up your job as a designer, never to design again, to be in a single zombie movie?
MykeCatastrophic said 4 months ago
A good zombie movie? Or a crappy one?
I think he'll end up in some sort of zombie movie at some point in his life anyway.

1) Have you ever gotten in trouble for using/referencing famous copyrighted images for your line? If so, how did you handle that?
2)You've worked with some designers over here for your line, do you accept submissions or do you just ask specific people to work for you?
Randomentity said 4 months ago

i wanna do an EZ design, some day, some day
Kolby said 4 months ago
both of those
sittingduck said 4 months ago
just do designs for him. I learned a ton by getting shut down by him haha.
question for the interview: kyle, if you were on a deserted island, how long would it take for you to die from lack of horror movies? that us what keeps you alive right?
second question: I think people would love to know this ... are you trying to weed out the weak by being so harshly critical of people's artwork? or is it that you really want everyone to do better and you've found this method works best? explain.

I'd be interested to hear about that, I recently scrapped a design with a picture of Dolph Lundgren on it for a Rocky IV themed shirt fearing i'd a) be sued massively, b) punched in the throat by Dolph Lundgren and Sylvester Stallon or c) both. I can't imagine the WWF for example giving clearance on that Ultimate Warrior tee as they clamp down on things as small as fan videos on YouTube.
seibei said 4 months ago
there's already a lot of questions here -
1. is there ever a time when you're not thinking about design/EZ/etc? I know it's hard for a lot of us to "shut it off" when you're working for yourself, so that's awesome if you can manage it.
2. do you ultimately wanna be doing EZ full time, or are you happy with equal vision/freelance too?
3. what trends in t-shirt design are you tired of/are there particular things you're tired of clients requesting?

If your death was destined to be totally violent and horrific, and you knew you somehow wouldn't feel pain as it happened, how would you like to die? Not something I'm super eager to know but I bet you have a fucking great answer in the bank already.

2)If you were given the job to create your own horror movie character, what would it be like?
thebutcher said 4 months ago
1. jason
2. it would be the fluffer on a gay porn set.
horsebites said 4 months ago
You need to interview yourself. That would be hilarious! It would be NAZZZTYYYY.

haha I actually had to stay there for camp in grade school too. it was a ymca camp i remember.
LitoQ said 4 months ago

may have been posted already but i really wanna know
Matt Rupp said 4 months ago
I didn't see Jason when I was in the water and no horny teens got slaughtered...disappointment.
cajun metal said 3 months ago
I hope this one got into the interview. I'd be interested to know EZ's motive for using those images despite copyrights.
kyleisez said 3 months ago
here you so it doesnt get into the interview because i feel like theres better questions
I dont care, all they can do is tell me to stop making it.. im a small fish in a big pond everything comes from somewhere... anytime you guys use google images or scan a book that isnt royalty free youre taking the same risk, it doesnt matter if it comes from a movie and dildo factory or a side of a bus... being a designer (unless youre some big time illustrator) is taking that risk
heroes said 3 months ago
isnt attitudes like that exactly why peoples steal things like ice creams and make them into stickers?
kyleisez said 3 months ago
if I look at your portfolio and i see 1 design with something i can pin point from somewhere thats not yours i will shit in your mouth
heroes said 3 months ago
im not starting an argument but your an inspiration to alot of people on here design wise so i think you should encourage these people to strive to learn new skills
Randomentity said 3 months ago
i think what kyle's saying is that by using ANY reference material, that's not "open source", you're taking a risk. He's talking about photographs, not illustration.
heavyprints said 3 months ago
I guess we all have feelings on this subject, so I'm just going to quote mine from some previous comments. I have the other persons comments in quote for context. Yup.
kyleisez said 3 months ago
hate to tell you this dude but what do you think a lot of illustrators do, why dont you get on the go media kids for their skull packs, its all google images vectorized.
everyone who wants to play police man can go fuck off, tracing a design or a drawing is one thing, but things out of the realistic realm I believe is ok. Unless you want me to start murdering people ( you if youd like) and bleaching their skulls just for the sake of being 100% true to my designs or maybe ill go to the zoo and kidnap a tiger and have a photoshoot and fingers crossed to me not getting my face mauled off
This argument or assumption is stupid, people can use images older than 20 years, last time I checked friday the 13ths are long over that now, so if I want to make a shitload of jason shirts until warner bros (no more new line comes to me) I'll fnd some way around seeing how I used to work for and with them
everything comes from somewhere
even if its stock, free royalty or what have you a piece of the puzzle known as design somewhere ISNT yours
so all you doodle bears are safe for now! keep onnnn drawwwwwwwwwing suckas
heavyprints said 3 months ago
That comic book cover was not 20 years old.
I understand it being a parody, but I've seen your art. You've got plenty of skills to draw a gnarly robocop. Why not do your own?
godmachine said 3 months ago
I use to own that very comic book!!!
Randi said 3 months ago
hot
jimmyheartcore said 3 months ago
That's not true.
That's for patents on products, not copyright for images.
Copyright law is way longer:
The Copyright Act of 1976, effective 1978, abolished common law copyright in the United States so that all works, published or unpublished, are now covered by federal statutory copyright. The claim that "pre-1923 works are in the public domain" is correct only for published works; unpublished works are under federal copyright for at least the life of the author plus 70 years.
For a work made for hire, the copyright in a work created before 1978, but not theretofore in the public domain or registered for copyright, subsists from January 1, 1978, and endures for a term of 95 years from the year of its first publication, or a term of 120 years from the year of its creation, whichever expires first.[8]
If the work was created before 1978 but first published on or before December 31, 2002, the work is covered by federal copyright until 2047.
Randomentity said 3 months ago
i had to take a course on copyright law for work. cuz it's a big deal and fedexkinkos[now fedex office??] can get sued if we copy anything protected. but i've forgotten most of it.
