...just a small question.
when you sell a design- do you demand a tee?
personally, I jokingly mention that I take a medium- but seeing as they are paying me I dont see why they should- and I dont mind that some dont (they have a lot going on etc).
When Miles sent me a tee- I was over the moon- super stoked- maybe coz I dont expect it.
so whats your thoughts doodads?

I think a tee isnt much to ask for...

i like to have one just to see how well it printed out. i feel weird wearing my own designs but its still awesome to have a physical record of the work you spent on it.

i never ask, but its nice seeing the fruits of your labor.
I just get bummed when people say their are going to send me something without being prompted and never do :(

I think it's only polite that the buyer of the design makes the offer.. After all, who doesn't like to see their own art on the medium it was designed for?

If I were to buy a design, I would ask the designer what size they wear without prompting.

Also, to everyone i've worked with in this thread, i will be sending you an email when the prints are done to ask for your postal addresses.

I usually ask for one for 2 reasons:
1. After all the work on the design, and especially if it's something I'm proud of, its so killer to have it not just in a file on my computer, and being able to show the work in its final state.
2. I'm cheap and love free stuff

I always offer free tees, and sell them to the artist at a way below wholesale rate if they wanna sell a few at appearances.

We don't usually ask unless its a client we have worked a lot with. We do try and get cds that are printed though for the portfolio... I do love it though when a client sends you a bunch of shirts after they get done just for the hell of it. Such an awesome feeling getting a random box of goodies.

i always offer one. why wouldnt you give someone a finished product of their design for free? whats another $5/7? id rather you owned one of the skull designs cause its your work and i wanted you to see i killed it! ha.

agreed, you already dished out a good 100-200$ on the design, depending on who you go with, i dont think that extra couple dollars really hurts in the long run.

Yeah that sucks.
I find it best to under promise and over deliver to clients.
It makes you look like your on top of your shit and doing them a favor.

I usually just give them whatever they want... That in return freaks them out because they dont want to ask for too much..
Im gonna be sending some summer love to deal, the rush, ray ray and HB soon... and Mr.Baker on halloween (trust me it will be worth the wait)

seeeeeeee, now im gonna get all worked up over nothing

Most people I've designed for have sent one, but if they didn't mention it I think it's ok to ask, they can say no if they like!
One person recently sent me a tee in sizes S, M, L & XL... I have no idea why :)
Joe said 2 months ago
Maybe they didn't know your size and were embarrassed to ask?
RikkiB said 2 months ago
"So what size tee would you like us to send you?"
"OMG how could you be so cruel!"
:)

I dont use designers personally but I dont see what the harm would be in giving them something that costs like £3?
Especially if they did a good job they deserve it to port in their portfolio or something. It would be weird to design something and then have to go pay like £20 to get one.
Some people are pretty tight though I guess.

I usually ask for one print of each design I sell. I don't think it's much to ask for... but have to admit that sometimes I'm not sure if the other party feels the same. It so fuckin great to finally get it in the mail, too!
One thing that does bother me is when they totally agree and have no problem sending one, and then never do. I hate to bring it up again, but can't help it. I want to try and get a copy of most everything I do (unless it's something I didn't care for in the first place).
