<body>I'm really keen on painting a skate deck, just not keen on the texture of arcylic paint on the deck after its done. I want to keep things looking smoooth.

So does anyone use paint markers or anyone used them for a deck? I'm thinking of using them instead of acrylic but just can't find assorted colours!

Uni poscas and sometimes decos are often available from newsagents.
you can use acrylic on a deck but maybe do an undercoat then thin it out?</body>

<body>mops and stainer inks really sink in and stain the wooden deck, they also bleed alot making it hard to work with.
spray paint is a good idea for an undercoat, but buy some good stuff, like ironlak ect. because other paint is really drippy and thin, its hard to use unless your used to it.

but id still go with poscas they are mad fun (: </body>

Yeah thats really the reason why im using spray s ink dosn't bleed.
I'll let my pa do the spray painting for now. He's used to doing it with cars so i guess its appropriate for now.</body>

<body>I'm actually in the process of painting a skate deck as we speak, I sanded the previous graphic off, and have sprayed 3 layers of white wood primer on and two base coats of yellow (my base colour), I'm adding another layer in a few hours then I'm going onto sketching the idea out, painting it with acrylics then going over all my linework in black pen and fineliners.
Then I'll use some sort of sealant to stop it chipping.

I look forward to seeing your outcome :)

<body>Don't use graffiti markers! Mops and such arent a good go.
I recently smashed up a series of three decks with acrylic and Posca outline. Definitely give Posca and Zig Painty's a crack.

I should look into spraying a couple of layers aswell. Thank you for this :)

im looking forward to your's aswell.

thanks everyone for the advice! I'll probably end up spray for for coating/background, acrylic for some areas then paint markers for line work.</body>

<body>Just make sure you get a good finish before you start painting.
Sand the original paint, wet and dry fine to get it smooth and then a base coat of primer then your set to do what you want with the design.
I did a guitar before and it came out pretty sweet, you can use a clear laquer then to finish it all off.
Put some piks up when your done :)</body>
