WTF...my first disappointment from Mozzila (i have to say, firefox is my fav browser, so far it was flawless for me.)
This topic http://emptees.com/posts/3791-vector-portraits-anyone looks so different. I installed Safari XP, for a quick test. It was ok, except the fact that it is not in any way customizable, and i need my stuff skinned.
The difference: in mozzila, the pics attached are crappy-ly resized, edges are aliased and what-not. And, the supposedly inferior safari for windows shows them nice and clear. I mean...why?
i would appreciate it if you skip the "macs rule, pcs make me puke" lines. i need some explanations, or at least, tell me if you have the same thing in mozzila.
i will attach some pics

Safari sucks dick.

I agree. I use safari all the time, unless I'm coding... then i use the developer bar in Firefox, thats the only reason.
Safari is WAY faster than firefox.
i'm on a mac by the way.

HAHA, that was priceless. now that we agree, and every browser sux dick FTW, let's see the pics.

oh, but wait, safari won't let me upload on flickr, it freezes.. so, back to mozilla for this operation..:)
PS>I can see NO notable difference in speed/ resource consumption between the two. I am talking about the XP version.
UP>mozilla.
DOWN> Lucky bastard safari.

i use windows i dont know dick about all this- my mate told me to try firefox once but it takes ages to load a page- or rather it did (i have a 10mb dowsnload speed). Have they fixed firefox now- i hear its good (for what reason though i have yet to be told).
fangs.
ez-kun said 3 months ago
you should try it. works like a charm. also, tons of good add-ons.
windows explorer let me down when it failed to see alpha transparency in png...god, that was lame.
molasses4masses said 3 months ago
firefox is more secure than safari, too.
ez-kun said 3 months ago
ok, so what is the explanation for the lame scale-down mozilla did? it only happened when the images were over 500 wide..

just don't use IE...ugh.
the only browser that doesn't worry about web standards. supposedly IE8 is finally going to be standards based though. its funny, MS is now telling everyone 'hey, remember how you had to waste time hacking your sites so they'd work in IE6 and 7? Well, now you need to go redo them so they are standards compliant for IE8!'
gee...thanks MS...its about time.
although, there are people out there still using IE6...which, as a web developer, makes me cry and gives me huge headaches.

i droped my 'aplha transparency' the other day and now its broke.
what part of 'dont know shit about computers' do you not understand. ? :)
see- im still non-the-wiser as to why i should use firefox or others.

I use those nightly builds for personal web-browsing, use firefox 2 for firebug & developer toolbar...and IE to test our sites.
Are you likeing FF3, Ray? The way the address bar searches bookmarks and such gets annoying.

FireFox all day!
Robmcbride said 3 months ago
Safari works really slowly in our show room (I sell Mac's) so we used Firefox.
I've had nothing but trouble with Safari and I use Firefox at work AND home very happily.
justinryan said 3 months ago
Since reformatting and installing Leopard last month, Safari. Using firefox with 10.4 was a nightmare, for me! Always freezing (sometimes making me have to force quit, other times just locking for several minutes). Haven't had a single problem with Safari, yet.

camino works for me

do you work at the apple store?
I would be shit surprised if i walked in there and they weren't using their own applications.
ez-kun said 3 months ago
sooo, translated> windows internet explorer had problems when a picture had a transparent background ( couldn't see the transparency and showed a gray, white, whatever..background.)
makes some sense?
ROB, your story is fun. it's like the dudes selling ps3 would show you a game on a 360 and tell you:it's the same game, we use xbox cuz we hate ps3, but, please, buy it!
so, my problem: bad scaled image on mozilla FF or not? i demand answers, you topic hijackers!
a killer wombat said 3 months ago
I like safari for how clean it looks where as fire fox is much more blocky. But safari takes longer for a server recache so sometimes firefox is better. And for things like purevolume safari doesn't automatically go to the next song where firefox does.
but I do like safari because of the actions window... makes it fun to see if you can pull mp3's from myspace and purevolume... and yes, you can. Not that I do it cause the quality is shitty but its fun to see if you can work around their security features... my inner nerd.
ez-kun said 3 months ago
Blockiness..solved by a few very good skins. really, you can make it look better than safari's default dark theme. as for the mp3s actions..yeah, i guess that's cool. also, love the way the loading happens in the adress bar. but that's about it..
ihearithurts said 3 months ago
I browse in Safari, develop in Firefox.
a killer wombat said 3 months ago
exactly
ez-kun said 3 months ago
Can you explain the problem with the pictures? the fact that they appear scaled badly.?
uff, i feel like nobody's reading past the title of this topic:D
ihearithurts said 3 months ago
It only appears to happen in Firefox on the PC. The Mac version looks fine. I'm not sure there's a lot we can do, it just appears to be a bug in the app.
ez-kun said 3 months ago
ok, got it, that sucks. thanks!
