It was never my intention for all of this to happen.
Ray leaving is sucky- a lot of people looked up to that guy and with good reason. I dont feel bad about anyone posting that thread- or for what anyone said on that thread.
That mask came about from a number of conversations about tracers/referencing etc. I found the most complicated mask I could and decided to recreate it to see what was plausable.
the piece turned out better than i had thought and I stuck it up on my blog- I never once said it was an original that i created myself from scratch- nor though did I say I copied the idea from a mask.
By the way- did you know you can buy vector art of that mask? someone traced it and made profit from it before me.
So I put it up and someone wanted to buy it. They have been informed of its originality and I will openly admit where it came from- I sent them the photo so they could see also.
I have made no money on these pieces.
All my other pieces have been my own and some have been referenced within manticore law- with the exception of one piece that screams of its originality- you would think I am a bloody fool to ever think anyone would not know of its originality. That though, is a Parody.
I do think I was worth giving shit too- but not of some vicious vindictive banter. But that only serves to show them up- not me.
I try everyday of my life to be kind and honest to the best of my abilities to help where I can and to say encouraging and helpful things.
I am very upset that it has hurt some people and that it caused so much drama. And for that I am sorry.
I have produced loads of work lately that I really wanted to post and show people- because I still consider myself a neewbie that has learnt so much so quickly here- thanks to you all (that is why I feel I owe you guys alot more than what you think of that mask)
..but I was affraid to post it just incase I had more snide remarks about getting totd or the style that I was using (sorry dude for blowing up on you in that thread about style- it was out of order and i emailed you to say as much)
so please come back ray and I will promise to make my next piece a kind of opus dedicated to all you guys.

for those of you who have no idea what went down, sorry, the post containing a zip file of the whole original thread was just deleted, aswell as the original thread.
basically, godmachine traced a picture of a halloween mask. ray called him out. people bitched at eachother. ray left. kyle made a post that ray asked him to(because ray deleted his account), that post got out of hand as well. now this sorry post was made, and now the other two threads are gone.
and in the end....it was just a fucking picture.

Ah nuts.. completely missed all this but i've been filled in on the deets. I think it's worth saying that Aziz (Godmachine) is one of the nicest guys i've ever had the pleasure to meet, I consider him to be a good mate of mine, and he seldom has a bad word to say about anyone - I don't recall every reading anything snidely written by Godmachine by way of criticism; he's always constructive in that sense. I also think that one trace shouldn't besmirch a full catalogue of great work, and nobody can deny that he is a great artist with a unique style.
I'm sure this has been said already but I don't think it's fair of Kyle to attack GM like that, it seems he's always had a fair bit of unfounded animosity towards Godmachine that he's never really explained or justified and nobody can deny that either, and also to that extent, Kyle isn't usually anywhere to be found when the Manticores go a-hunting, so it's kind of sad that he chose this occasion to make his point and to relish the fact that this had happened, almost like he was waiting for it. EZ is a great artist, he shouldn't lower himself to such levels as picking fights with people who are as good as him. As for Frenden, I hope he comes back, he's clearly got a lot to say for this industry, and people look up to that. It's a shame that 3 of this site's 'heavy hitters' have come to blows like this.. It's one thing when some idiot like AdolfJackson rips with such intent having shown no previous work of his own and deservedly feels the full wrath of the manticores; but one of the best designers around at the moment tracing a skull having an excellent portfolio of original material behind him being viciously manticored is an entirely different case altogether, and should have been dealt with better.
Anyway, I hope everything is sorted now and everyone can work stuff out.. just thought I oughta throw my two cents in here and stick up for my friend. Plus I have an excellent knack of killing threads which is exactly what this needs... seriously, take a look, there's 'Last post by Dave!PTS' on loads of them!
