It gets annoying at time because small bands want you to do cliche work for really cheep OR bands want you to sponsor them when they are terrible.
yep, same here. Go Myspace, I havent had any luck with Facebook, but also am too busy to put effort into marketing through it.

How do you marketing on myspace? just adding people?
i dont have a facebook, but if it wasnt for myspace i would be where i am in the designing world, it opened a lot of doors to me because aloto f bands who i work for see my work on my myspace :]
i try to network as much as possible with myspace.. actually any forum art forum and stuff like that... it works pretty well.. although i havent gotten any work from it .. i think i am getting my work out there more... hopefully
Your new website actually looks really really good. One thing, Ive always thought you should work on your logo. You basically picked a font and typed out I came from nothing. You didnt tweak it. No Kerning, Leading. Just my two cents.
Myspace is singlehandedly the only reason Ive gotten as big as I have. Ive had one for nearly 5 years, and its almost unbearable to log on sometimes. A couple dozen band friend-requests and a billion messages waiting. Its awesome, but expect A LOT of unprofessional people.
A LOT.
Facebook is trash on the other hand. College bros are only interested in having you redraw their family crest or some word in chinese. -- You could get invited to a rager though mandude!
Get a Myspace. The best way to market yourself is to create a "friend" base, or whatever.. just start adding, haha. But one big thing is once you receive a decent client that also has a Myspace and gets a lot of people to their profile, see if you can get them to add you to their "Top Friends". I know this kind of sounds silly, but this will help you get more exposure to the people who frequent the site, and you will most likely get some business from it. It has really helped me out. I can say, like a few other on here already, that MS has gotten me to where I am today in tee design... however, Im kind of sick of it now. Like Chad said... way too much unprofessionalism!
oh yea.. and get ready to be asked to work for free, or a trade that would no way help you out as much as the recipient of your artwork.

yah I just got a "job" from a clothing line, they gave me a bunch of low res copyrighted images from google and said make a shirt lol, im giving it a shot though lol
Thanks guys! Ive always wanted to give t-shirt design a shot. So I started doing contests and did pretty good last year. Now Id like to start working with some labels and bands. Since getting on emptees and getting some inquires and picking up a couple clients, Id like to take a step forward.
myspace is only good for one thing, networking. you get so much exposure on that website, but as soon as a band asks for work i can only expect the worst, because most of the time they are really unprofessional about the whole situation and as DCAY said, ALOT of them ask for free stuff.
but emptees has definitely occupied over much of my myspace time which im bloody grateful for!

Low-Res Copyrighted Images from Google. And youre gonna give it a shot? Look out people, professional coming through.
I think Ill most likely whip a website together first then do the myspace thing. I have a 9 to 5 so I wont mind turning down the small fries that want free shit or almost free. My time will be limited so Im going to have to pick shit I really dig.
