So after Wotto posted about the current state of t-shirt design contest sites, I figured I would sit down and think of some way to stir things up a bit on ShirtFight, to break out of the weekly rut a bit. And thus, the Heavyweights contest was born!
In a nutshell, we decided to make a special invite-only contest just for a hand picked group of past winners and Top 10 heavyweights, but instead of just resurrecting their old ShirtFight submissions, they are going to submit fresh designs.
The contest will start tomorrow (July 2nd) at midnight with all of the submissions up for voting. The voting will continue over the weekend, and then on Monday at noon...
BAM! We elminate all but the top 16 designs. You heard me right, it's an ELIMINATION FIGHT!
Then tuesday knocks it down to 8, wednesday gets smacked down to 4, thursday at noon leaves a 1-on-1 battle, with the final victor announced Thursday July 9th at midnight!
We had hinted earlier on our blog that there was potentially going to be a bigger prize for the Heavyweight winner...well, I'm pleased to announce that we've worked out all the details and have a REALLY fun and exciting bonus prize! Here's how it works:
*On July 9th, the Heavyweight winner will be announced, as normal.
*The heavyweight then chooses one fighter from the upcoming UFC 100 (which airs July 11th) that they think is going to win.
*Good Ol' El Presidente (that's me!) will place a $500 bet on that fighter using a Las Vegas Sporting Bet service (see where this is going???)
*If the chosen fighter loses, the Heavyweight still gets $500. After all, they worked so hard on their design they deserve it!
*But if the chosen fighter WINS, the Heavyweight gets all the winnings! We'll be going off the Vegas lines, for example: Frank Mir's line is +190, which means a $100 bet will get you back $190 profit if Frank wins! That means a $500 bet could end up giving the Heavyweight winner a cool $1450!

Kick in the nuts for picking Alves. Tisk tisk I tells ya. He has power, but that fucks up his balance every time, and all his power moves are slow as fuck, and can be countered with some agility, Plus he's more of a brawler style fighter who needs his feet to be successful, If it turns into a grapple fight, Pierre's technique will win out.
I have noticed a lot of shenanigans with refs in past fights calling fights way to early. I just hope they are all good fights. I hate when the crowd boos every time the guys hold each other for more then a few seconds, that's part of the fight people.

I kind of felt the need to enter this contest...
I worked all night on this design, and yes, i know, it's a really royal pain in the ass to print...but i hope the result is worth taking a second look.
I would really appreciate it if you brothers (and sisters) from other mothers would cast a vote/ throw a comment on it.
It was really hard to design at a big size when my hdd kept filling up via temp files and saving took like 2 minutes:P.
Never again design on my old computer...or..?
