but its hard to let of someone regardless of how terrible the situation is... just find something to keep your mind busy. nad just realize that it was for the best and keep reminding yourself why it had to happen.

As you said above it really needed to happen. It will take time to get past it but whenever you do it will certainly have been worth it, it usually is.

Dude, just be happy that you’re no longer obligated to attend bullshit family functions that you don’t care about just because she wants to show you off. Or you can also be happy for the fact that you can do whatever the hell you want without having to worry whether or not it’s okay or approved of by the other person. Or maybe you can be happy about chilling with your boys whenever the hell you want and doing whatever you want.
Man... am I the only person that loves complete freedom?
It’s okay to be sad though, I understand. The best thing to do is not beat yourself up over it, keep yourself busy and take a good long time for yourself.

bummer man. but dood... youre a good looking avatar. there are 6,602,224,175 people in the world. half that maybe for female gender. i guarantee you could prolly hook up with at least (being very conservative) .5% of that and more if you could live longer. which at half percent is still 16 million women.

ive been dumped more than i have dumped, but after the 1009909th time, i learned making a clean break FOREVER is the best thing to do. forget about reconcile. dont get bitter, dont think the relationship was useless or lies. by that, every relationship helps you learn how to try to have a better one, and what type of traits you DONT want in a partner. and about thinking it was a sham, like thinking the person never loved you because they ended it, etc etc. for the moments they did, you two lived it, and it was, and although it isnt now, it was then. appreciate that, and know you can build that with someone else. and one more thing... theres always better. sounds crappy, but you just have to find one that is better, but more importantly, one that is willing to build with you semi permanently, cause that will be the better part of them.
also im single. so dont listen to me. im a failure with relationships. although the ones that i was dumped by, im sure they regret in a short of way because i always gave my all to let them know i cared for them. especially the ones that end up getting a crappy bf, or divorced, and they try to contact you year after year while you ignore them. f--k that bitty! lol.

ah man, i’m real sorry to hear that. i’ve been through some rough breakups myself, i know how it is. but the way i always see it is that it just wasn’t meant to be; even though it’s hard to hear it. i strongly believe that everything happens for a reason. but seriously, be excited for the future because i’m sure you’ll find someone who will make you so happy. oh and by the way, when you find that girl who makes you so happy and you think everything’s great, your ex is going to want you back. be prepared to deal with that.

If you settle for someone who doesnt truly make you happy then your just settin yourself up for a larger world of pain in the future. I know its not easy, but you gotta try to look at this as "for the better" because, although you may not see it right away, it most likely is...

This is an epic thread. Thanks everyone, your words are awesome. It was a crazy night of talking and such- but this morning I was able to make a clean break.
I am glad our lease ended not too long ago.
Although all the advice was varied, I will take it all to heart. Fuck prostitutes plus .5% of the world. Listen to happy songs. Go fishing. Get tested. Get drunk. Bone her best male friend. Fix a broken record... etc.
I will have tons more time to do the stuff I want to do. More designing- maybe I will finally buy a wacom. Although, Miller had some negative things to say about it.
And it is true, I will always have emptees...
