If anyone can answer, Id appreciate it greatly!
1. Anyone work with any font creation software, which is easy and best? or is it acceptable to create it in a fashion where they would be applied manually off a vector sheet? The font would be highly stylized tattoo scriptish, which one would have to add flourishes from a bank of different embellishments anyways.
2. Tagless American Apparel? Exist?
or since AA has such clout and with some consumers adds instant value, does printing the logo inside with the tag still intact make a sensible decision? I would think its difficult to print?
3. Why do motorcycle riders ride close to the line? Does it help visibility in the rearview? Does it help avoid draft? Why not ride in the middle? Sometimes I think they are just doing it for masculine territorial reasons.
4. Anyone in Tennessee? If you are and you have a business license and knowledge of the documentation required, I would like some assistance. I would compensate with a free DBH shirt or something.
5. Thinking about creating some more vector sets. If I did, is there anything you would wish to see that is not available now at the many vector sites?
Thanks!

Wow that's a ton of questions dude lol.

i live in nashville and my business partner could probably tell you all you need to know about the whole business license in TN thing
mattschoch said about 1 month ago
wow.
i actually have answers to your questions!
1)fontlab studio. its the industry standard. it took me awhile to find a good torrent though...or you could buy it. the basics are simple, but it takes awhile if you manually do kerning. ilovetypography.com has some good tutorials.
2)no clue.
3)back in the day when cars weren't as nice, cars would leak oil and such which would build up causing the center of the lane to be slick so cyclists were in danger of sliding out and dying, so they would ride on the side. idk if its still like that, but they jsut do it anyways. or in mass traffic they ride the line so they don't have to wait.
4) ohio.
5) make something cool.

As far as motorcycle drivers riding close to the line is for making turns, outside - inside - outside, so the turn is not so sharp.

thanks for the answers. anyone wanting to elaborate, im all ears.
collision: i might. i dont feel like using that panda/panther/cobra that i made a few weeks back. i know you dug the panda. want to collab. and by collab i mean, i send you the panda, and you do the rest... and you submit to where ever? heheh... is that fair? we share profits?
explodingtoes: i might have to meet you and your partner. i think im moving back to nashville. i actually havent paid taxes or gotten any type of license to do any kind of business. ive saved my projected tax money though. the move might be before the end of august. ill email you if thats ok.
mattschoch: ill try the fontlab. will check out the site. its just an idea. i have two F_ING rad fonts in mind, i would use them myself. might as well try to make them pro and sell em.
dcastle8183: aye. i could understand that. i mean more when im on the interstate and im about to pass them, they seem to get almost over into my lane. annoying. like they are purposely trying to get ME the big car to move over.
still unanswered - 2. Tagless American Apparel? Exist?
or since AA has such clout and with some consumers adds instant value, does printing the logo inside with the tag still intact make a sensible decision? I would think its difficult to print?
also more opinions on #5... stock vector, what would you want to see?
explodingtoes said about 1 month ago
yeah, info@explodingtoes.com. we can definitely get together and go over the details. he loves talking business so it'll be no problem.

Yeah, that just sounds like being a jack ass. I try and steer clear of big cars because they can kill me.

It's illegal to sell shirts without tags. They has to have them.
Any blank shirt you get you'll need to remove the tags, cuz it's teh law. Then you have to include washing instructions and some other snazzy info.
There's a pretty good writeup about it on T-shirtforums.com
Edit: I guess I should say it's not the tags.. It's the information on them. But still.
quixotic said about 1 month ago
I think most people just remove the AA tags. I know for sure that David(Seibei) does it.
Personally, I'd just prefer either the AA tag or the print. It would look weird with both.
As for the vector stuff... I don't know. I don't usually use vectors to I don't know what else is out there or what should be out there.
jimiyo said about 1 month ago
hey heavyprints. word. i think i want the AA tag in them. people are suckers for a established brand name.
btw. hey. sorry i havent been able to reply properly. been meaning too... then i got a ton of email from everywhere. i see youve been busy yourself though. mucho work being produced by you of recent. :)
here's a question for you...
What's ...?
mitchbones said about 1 month ago
I remember reading somewhere that cyclists shouldn't ride on the right part of the right hand lane, cause sometimes cars are jerks and try to take the lane.
collisiontheory said about 1 month ago
Dude i've actually thought of doing that before! Let's do it. Send it to me and I'll add some nice little LOL CATS. Haha but no seriously I'm down. Let's do this!
volatile v said about 1 month ago
which one of you left an open italics tag.
quixotic said about 1 month ago
...it was me. I forgot the slash. :(
heavyprints said about 1 month ago
It is what all your base are belong to.
Haha, it's cool man. We all get busy sometimes.
I just sent you another email, too. I sealed it with a kiss. xoxo

You can buy tagless tee's from AA. But you have to order in large quantities, around 5000 at a time.
Acid said about 1 month ago
mickymays prints on his AA's and has the tags and doesnt look weird, does it really matter? No ones gonna notice, and if youre specifically lookin at the inside of the neck of a tshirt your not wearing, is it that much trouble to lift up the tag?
quakerninja said about 1 month ago
For 5 take a look at the tee off topics, I would love to see any of those.
To broad maybe.
How about Foods. I feel in my gut a fat america trend comeing like a great fog on the horizon. Lead by a cupcake rideing a pony with a pink mane.
Toast is the new skull I can feel it.
mission_alphaville said about 1 month ago
euhm, could it be possible I'm wearing a tagless heartcore clothing shirt right now?
MadeByMAS said about 1 month ago
I cut the tags out of my shirts and a lot of brands that we print for. Once you get it down its not to hard, whoever your printer is should do it for you.
Make sure to include the RN# on your tag that you do decide to print your own tags.

I love Typography has a good article on the different font creation apps out there.

#1 fontlab....
#3 Motorcycles.....The center of the lane is still where the crap cars & trucks leak all of their oil....
safer to ride on the edges...
...plus you get used to it when riding 2up...
I guess sometimes it is kinda territorial,... as in... just cause im smaller, please car or truck...don't try to use part of my lane to sneak through...it's still all my lane...even tho I can't fill it up.....happens alot
#4 Vectors - Multi colors - complex stuff....everyone usually offers silhouettes?...it seems easy to just make 1 colors myself.

I know I am going to catch some flack here for suggesting more of what is already out there but I think there is still a need/market for these vector sets (even though they have been done before - rarely are they done well):
80's iconography
Versitle set of flourishes (allow for more flexibility in constructing large collages)
Versitle set of swirls and letter accent pieces (user would be to use a base or hand drawn font then add swirls to create a more complicated font/type).
Animal Skulls (I know gomedia has a great set of these already) - but would love to see some other skulls- moose, bear, panther, manticore,
Plants, leaves, vines, (not floral per se - but more jungle like)
(Please dont slaughter me for this next one, but jimyo - it would be a big seller)
Tatoo staples (nautical stars, swallows, hearts, daggers, scrolls, sailor art, pinup sillouttes (a whole pinup set would be amazing), roses, etc. basically rock-a-billy type artwork from traditional tatoo.
Maps icons
oriental patterns, japanes coi, bamboo, dragons etc.

How about doing some compositions with your vector elements and selling those. Like Tee Shirt Factoy? (only different for obvious reasons)
Reliique said about 1 month ago
oh vectors would be cool, eager to see what you create!
