So I deceided I need to step up my social networking. In doing so I will be spicing up my myspace nice and simple , but kickass. So here is a really good tut I found.

Cool, thanks. Myspace is the home of some of the worst design out there. Good to know there are ways to have a nice clean page.

Yeah I will be playing with that layout later. I hate cluster fucked designs

if i had the time i would so do this

div overlays are the way to go man. That is what we use and if you know how to work with myspace you can add stuff like comments back on top of the overlay you covered everything up with.

yeah, I hate myspace. i took simplification to the extreme:

Thats not a bad idea... how did you pull that off?

html {display: none;}
Truman325i said 2 months ago
Well I am thinking two links and like two pictures?
a killer wombat said 2 months ago
haha, there was a site that claimed that as the best myspace design ever, made me laugh... it hides the whole page. You can do your stuff in the about section and just make everything else display: none; of make a floater div and hide everything below it.

I think you need to find the mix between design and functionality on myspace.
Lot's of div overlays are just that overlays. They don't incorporate the functionality of myspace and they don't work very well in my opinion.
What We Are Synapse and Team Doom do is combine the functionality of myspace with great design.

yeah, i was just thinking earlier today about how i need to step up the design side of my layouts.
i like the way everything is laid out in them but the design lacks quite a bit.
and synapse is so good!!
there a huge inspiration to me!

I like simple simple: http://myspace.com/carnivalgloss
http://createblog.com has lots of good codes in their "Scripts" section if you're looking for something in particular that you need to customize.

I do alot of MySpace layouts... it's quick and easy money.
Basically the more a client wants, the more expensive it is/the more crazier it looks.
The less money, the less little quirks.
My page: www.myspace.com/theinheritancefirm
My Band (an example of a more expensive design): O Jerusalem
A client paying an average amount of money: I Got Shotgun

thanks for the kind words guys!
awakendesigncompany said about 1 month ago
no problem :)
when is the new synapse portfolio going to be posted???
a killer wombat said about 1 month ago
should be within the next week or so, Glenn and his girlfriend are here in the states and they leave tonight. So when he gets back we are wrapping everything up and its going live!
Its been a long time coming. Just that boring process of trimming project photos to fit a portfolio is so tedious we keep finding other projects to entertain ourselves with.
awakendesigncompany said about 1 month ago
ah!!! i'm so pumped. i check on it about everyday! the only way i get to see your all's work is if i do random myspace searches and find your layouts lol.
and just wondering who do you all host your page through??? i'm needing to get one up so bad.
Buck Nasty said about 1 month ago
well since everyone is posting their myspace links here is ours.
I used a div overlay to get it to look the way I wanted to. I am pretty proud of how it turned out. It looks just like our website too so that is good.

also the dear hunter's myspace looks SICK. well done.

pigs will fly, hell will freeze over, etc etc etc
a killer wombat said about 1 month ago
haha, yeah.... we really need that site up. But atleast you get to play some asteroids on our site! Right now we actually just still host through dream host. Haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood) but we are in the process of getting our own dedicated server to run it all.
awakendesigncompany said about 1 month ago
your all's page looks so clean and nice. i like it!
a killer wombat said about 1 month ago
hahahaha, shut your mouth! Didn't I show you the preview of it? Its all built, super simple but as I am sure everyone know when the jobs come in the idea of resizing images for a portfolio just seems so daunting.
skullface said about 1 month ago
indeed, it's positively beautiful
awakendesigncompany said about 1 month ago
haha, yeah. that sweet, i liked the bird game that you all had up for awhile to.
oh okay cool, i'm considering a few different places to host through, but i'm still VERY new to doing anything like that. so i'll have to check out dream host again.
