Ok so sometimes I get in these rutts where I have no idea how to be professional.
Yesterday I interviewed with a very well known company for the IT department and I really want the job...out of two hundred applicants they are down to the top 3 and I happen to be one of them....how do you write a follow up letter that basically says I WANT THAT JOB MORE THAN THOSE OTHER KIDS!! This is serious since it is my carreer we are talking about so asking my potential new boss for noods isnt what I am looking for.

point taken. i would just thank them for their time and let them know how bad you want the job (without being all stalkerish). boobie pics couldn't hurt.

be friendly.
for follow up letters it's good to acknowledge something that you and your interviewer talked about that probably wasn't talked about with other applicants (i.e. a common hobby, or place of residence), that way they can pinpoint who you are and remember why they liked you. then restate that you are interested in the job. then include some thoughts regarding the job that you forgot to mention in the interview or came up with afterwards, displaying your continued interest afterwards (make sure you don't come across as forgetful). and then have a pleasent closing, signed beth.

Hire a private eye to dig up dirt on the other two candidates. If they have none, set them up on a date with the bosses wife.

Thank them for the initial interview (I normally do that within 8 hours of the interview). It shows that you're eager.
Other than that, just let them know that you look forward to their decision. No need to point out your good traits again, in my opinion. If you're down to the top 3 then they already know!

PS- A funny part of the interview (caleb will like this!) the guy who interviewed me was from Tampa and I put Caleb and Amy as a refrence and under their name it said Fueled by Ramen....he replied with "Why did you deal with a Ramen company?! I thought you made shirts!" It was awesome!!

This is what I got in responce::
"Thanks for the note. I hope to have things sorted out a bit later in week."
Is that good or bad.?!?!?! I am a female and I overthink....so I think this means...find another job but I want to think it means. I will call you in a week to discuss your discounted sportsgear!
Ameeee said about 1 month ago
Nah I think that's good - I did the same thing the other day - and I got the job! Basically, they don't want to talk you up to yourself, because it might seem like they're promising you something :)
justgeoff said about 1 month ago
That means you're fucked. Sorry.
I kid. I think it means that they'll know something a bit later in the week.

Like Monday..I sent my portfolio once and was waiting to hear back for 2 weeks. Longest two weeks of my life. They were just real busy.
So the pet insurance sounds pretty cool?
beth said about 1 month ago
Its just nerve racking! I havent wanted a job this bad in....well EVER! The whole place just rocks! The staff is cool the office itself is a gutted warehouse with a halfpipe in the middle and the cubicles are made of glass, a gym, theater. Not to mention the awesome benefits. But I am a workaholic so I just want to get back in the corporate game and get a desk again!
Ameeee said about 1 month ago
OMG that sounds so good - I really, really hope you get it! My fingers are crossed for you. It makes it hard to type and function in general, but it's all good!
It's the worst when you really want something and you are just waiting around. You need to distract your mind!
