The love thing.
Do you love because you love the artsist regardless of what he/she does?
Do you love cos you'de wear the tee?
Do you love because you'd BUY the tee?
(I doubt this last one as most designers say they only wear plain tees)
How does one love?
In my experience the amount of love has no baring on sales and is not really a clear mark of what is popular, more a nod of respect from ones peers.
I love stuff on two counts:
A - If I would actually wear the tee.
B - If I think the artwork deserves that wotto love.
Interesting debate to be had me thinks.

I love shirts because they are either executed very well or they have a great concept. Oh also, if there is a cat in the art it's an automatic love.

Sometimes I feel bad leaving constructive criticism on finished designs because of the critique me section but I can't help doing it and I feel weird going to the crit section because its like "welp lets go find some stuff to critique"

ha ha, If I don't push the red one then I won't remember if I saw it or not, and when I reach a gray one I know I have caught up with the days tee viewing so I don't miss any.
If it's a crapy shirt at least they get one, and if it's not a crapy shirt it dosen't hurt. It's a win win. And it is just a button on the internet. I love more then others, but I don't want to be a douche about it, there are plenty of other things I can be a douche about.

I usually love a design that shows a lot of talent, even if it's outside of my personal preference for what I wear.
I have, on occasion, been pushed over the edge to click the love button because of who the artist is.
I also click it if the design makes me smile, or laugh.
It's all rather arbitrary, but if I can appreciate a design for some reason, I usually click it.

Same here, A lot of the artwork on the site I really admire and find inspiring .. I 'love' these.
On the other hand most of the designs I probably wouldn't wear, to be honest this is mostly due to the band/company the design is for but I would never not 'love' a design I really admire just because of who it was created for.

I use your same system too. But sometimes I find myself automatically loving someone's work because they're popular and do quality work constantly. It's not necessarily like a "whoa! I really love this" but more like "you know you get my love because you're badass!"

I love any design I think is quality, a love is basically a "kudos".
I try not to love based solely on artist... in fact I usually try to avoid loving something by a prolific/talented/popular artist unless I feel it reflects their best work.

Sometimes it is easy to be swayed by an artist you like, your work constantly impress me Mr Watkins! So you get love most, if not all the time. Does that mean I support you as an artist or just like what you do?
I'd say it's both.
But then there are others like Greg Abbott, Flying Mouse, GM, Mumford, Freden, Cryface, Brandon Heart, the Axe crew...this is a long assed list, who continually knock them out of the park! Is it far to say an established artist is established because of talent and ideas? So deserves love on that grounds?
If I love it, I'd wear it, I don't buy that many shirts, because I've got loads and I would rather buy Manichello at the moment!

As a newbie to all this I don't have any designer favs as yet.
I have picked based on things I would wear thus far....but the more time I spend here the more I appreciate some of the artistry in designs that aren't the kind of thing I would wear.
So I am slowly going to adjust my loving to include the occasional tee I wouldn't wear but on which the design is phenomenal.
I have been guilty of having a Threadless bias thus far too.... that will also change, it is only because that's where I first discovered this tee design world.
