    wow raise those prices!

you could tell him your experience with clients, and that you feel ripped off for working on a design for long hours and all you get is $40 for it. thats what i would do

    13mdesign:

thats the most random message ever. and thanks, im 22 by the way, and i dont think my rates are that low, i mean i dont charge an arm and a leg because as of right now my market has been local bands taht are just getting started, and my rates have been going up as i progress in what i do, which is not a crime as the gomedia article states (yes, ive read it). but im nowhere near a professional designer yet. that being said, i am trying to pay my way through design school, i graduate in a year and all of the extra money helps, im sorry you feel that i am "low-balling" you in any way because i assure you its not my intent to do that to ANY designer. but i have settled my prices into a groove, if you know anything about me you will know that i went through a stage where i set my prices higher and i had 0 business, so i lowered them. and i still havent had that much of a hit yet. thanks for your concern, i appreciate the message, but as of right now, im not upping my prices so that i can turn my client base into nothing. now, once i start getting a little more exposure, or actually work for a band that is signed to a decent label i WILL up my prices, but right now, im in a very small market.

also, i JUST this morning before i got this message upped my prices on my shirts, which is why it is weird that you wrote this, because i realized that they were too low, i dont get a lot of requests for tshirts as it is but i do work quite a bit on the ones i do. so in that respect you are right.

and if you have any other tips for me after reading this then hit me up, i really appreciate the response!

Through my experience, it is a common misconception that big label bands pay big money. In fact, most times, it proves to be exactly the opposite!
