what sort of van is best.

So, I’m thinking of getting a van - I have been meaning to get a new car for some time now, and I figure if things go well in the next few months I can probably work out a trade-in and a down payment. So, I want to start researching now.

WHAT SORT OF VAN IS BEST.

I want a fucking road warrior - something I can drive to shows around the country (and up to Canada for a show or two), fill it with shirts, friends, displays, etc etc, with an aesthetically-pleasing boxy body (I am partial to the look of the Ford E-350, none of this aerodynamic slicked-back family van shit) and room on the side for a SICK ASS mural (a gay barbarian riding a unicorn on the moon or something).

I’m sure some of you have gone on tour in various vans, or maybe just have some kind of suggestion.

Nothing too pricey please; no matter how well SEIBEI might be doing I can’t just go dropping shitloads of money on a car anytime ever.

    conversion vans are way more fun, it feels like you’re driving a boat, and there’s a ton more room. Im not sure how much those spiffy white ones are that bands always have, but my friends snagged theirs used for a couple grand.

    hahaha yeah I was looking through eBay auctions to get kind of a feel for what was out there and someone did have a van that was a van/ambulance/ice cream truck (according to them, anyway), and either of those options would have been awesome.

    Who needs vans when you have this.

    On a side note, I’ve seen this happen in real life and it’s the most awesome thing. The dog sits on stoplights and stands when the bike’s moving. Nothing to support him at all.

    Actually, Im gonna make a real post here. Chevy and Ford have strong transmissions but tend to have more engine problems then Dodge. Dodge is the opposite.

    I had a 6 cylinder dodge ram van for 4 years and never had a single problem with it. Even got decent gas mileage, for a vehicle that size.

    My band just picked up a big ol' 15 passenger Chevy Express 2002. We ripped out the two back seats to put our equipment in and there was still room for 8 people. The thing is a beast. That way you can avoid all the tolls that nail ya for using a trailer.

    We had 3 vans. 2 dodges and a ford. Both dodges transmissions went out. I heard from a mechanic that it was normal for a chrysler made vehicle. But apparently the newer ones are suppose to be better. We also had a Ford E-350 V10. The radiator blew out after a few tours. My friends have a chevy, the just had to put a new engine in it. Actually, If I had to do it all over again and I wasn’t pulling a trailer I’d probably go with the chevy.
