OMG ITUNES

posted 3 months ago by Randomentity

I just accidentally deleted, as in, moved to trashcan/emptied trashcan, my ENTIRE itunes library. i have some of it backed up on an external HD, but i’m sure i’ve lost a good 20 gigs, is there any way to get it back?? I’m using tiger still, btw, so i don’t have a back up or anything.

the music will still be on your computer wont it?

i was clearing up the music folder, and cmd+deleted everything, and then went "empty trash" the little "the file 'iTunes library cannot be deleted, it is in use" popped up at which point i went STOP! and thought it was fine. then i checked and the itunes music folder was gone
so now i have an empty 50 gigs of space

There’s a program called FileSalvage that’s seldom useful for events other than this. If you haven’t downloaded anything or written any files since deleting your library, everything should all be sitting somewhere in the empty space of your computer. FileSalvage can find and retrieve these files for you.

Something like this happened to me not too long ago, except... I went to work, came home, and 30 gigs of music was missing, and it was weird cause the recycle bin was still full from before, but had none of the stuff... never got my jams back :[

So I wish you the best of luck!

um, yeah but i’m not spending 90 bucks on it. the stuff i want is still on my ipod so it’s not a complete loss.

If you are on Mac, use Senuti to transfer your music from your iPod back to your Mac.

yeah just don’t update your ipod. i switched all of my music over to my new laptop with some free software that takes music from your ipod and puts it on your computer. it worked perfectly and actually made my music folder more organized than the one i previously used.
