    well thats the issue

ask for the logo as a seperate layer in a psd instead of using them using the wand tool on a really low resolution image which is what looks like has happened

without any "designing tools" you aren’t going to be able to do anything.

when whomever saved the gif, they chose white as the matte color. it should be some sort of grey or something closer to the background.

it really should be a png, but i don’t think that will fly very well when you mix myspace and ie

The problem is that the anti-aliasing of the logo is set up to be shown against a white background, and you are showing it against a grey background.

To fix this, you’ll need the .PSD file, and you need to seperate the logo text from the background. At this point if it’s a flattened image you coule probably try one of two things. Select > Color Range and choose the white. Don’t make your fuzziness very high. Then go to Select > Modify > Expand and expand it by one pixel. Make sure your layer is not locked and delete the selection. This will erase the white edge and leave transparency underneath. Save for web as a PNG-24 with transparency and re-upload.
