need some serious advice

posted 3 months ago by chech95

Alright so I am an extremely un-artistic individual but am looking to get a design or two done for a company. My first question is how much detail about at design is given when when initially asking to have a design done? My second question i show much to designers typically charge for a design? I do have friends that are great designers but they all want to be partners and partnerships rarely work out so I’m looking to outsource. Any Advice?

usually an artist will explain to you their policies and procedures before even beginning on a project, such as estimated time until completion, and possibly a rough sketch, as well as a quote or an hourly rate. I’d say if you really want to get a good design done, it would cost anywhere between $100-300 depending on complexity and type of work.

hit me with an email, also!

Well, if you’re looking to get anywhere in designing, you want to put a lot of time, effort, and detail into your designs, because that’s what’s going to help you improve. Also, when charging, base it on the detail in the design, how long it took you to make the design, stuff like that. First starting out though, make your prices kinda low, because no ones gonna pay $400 for a crap design, so just charge according to what you think is right.

With the artists on here however, you’re probably looking at $250 and up. Some may go as low as $200 but the reputable ones draw the line.

Partnerships work, as long as it’s not with friends. If you’re going to work with someone, make that decision based on merit and worthiness, not how long you’ve been 'buds'.

You can get a good handle on any artist by checking out a portfolio and a good designer should have an online portfolio or a printed one if they are close by. If you are looking for a design for a company, try to see what it is they are looking for.. if you know, that’s even better. Just remember, you get what you pay for.. emptees has extremely talented illustrators.. if you are looking for that, youve got it. If you are looking for a 5k Run t-shirt, heheh, you may still be in luck; however, you may find a cheaper avenue closer to home.

I work for a flat rate of $250 per Design, what ever it take to get it done right.
I get an idea of what you are after, throw some ideas back and forth, dive into sketches, this takes me about 2 days average, give you a peek and see if I am one track or not, give some recommendations about where I think the design could or should go. Get a green light and dive into full design, another 2 days. get back with colorways and mockups, some options about number of colors, type of shirt, and so on. (unless you have that figured all ready)
This is for top of my head, from the heart work, some projects go a lot faster.
I can do 1 colors for lower and faster. or a slogan/logo tee.
This is just my way... I am open to working your way too. In the end we both want to make the fans happy. Hope that helps, feel free to drop me an email anytime. Quakerninja@hotmail.com
