Check out CDbaby.com They are a service for bands, but I know when I was on tour they rented me one for $30 took 8% (which is a lot, but worth it) and then I would charge shirts and CDs on it.
Basically its one of the old school ones that you have to hand swipe with slips, but you send the slips in to them, and then they send you a check or deposit the $$ directly into your account.

It ends up working out really well!
The manual imprinter ones you cant check their cards. But there is something called SecurePay Wireless you hook it up to your phone and can make the transaction in real time face to face
since theres no wifi (and im guessing no other data connections) like you said, a digital credit card reader wont do you much good cuz it needs a connection to a data source to send/receive/verify credit card info.
I think theres some digital card readers out there that basically just saves the card information to a computer hard drive, and then you actually charge the card(s) when you get home or to an active data connection.
I could be wrong though, as this method seems pretty sketchy with the seller building a database of credit card info haha.

Id say your only option is an old-school manual card imprinter...
