here’s what i did when i sold it (so you can get the mindset)... and I know Alex Goldstein did something similar when he sold his.
I had at t so having it unlocked was something i did just for fun. it does, however, make the resale value go almost double what standard retail is. obviously, you can’t buy a new O.G. iPhone since they are no longer being produced unless someone on eBay or Craig’s List or whatever has one still pre-packaged and still bricked (unactivated).
mine was used for 7 months. had a dent and a scratch here and there, and that was clearly stated in the eBay listing.
my price in november 07 - 399.
my customer’s price on eBay in june 08- 455.
i shipped it free.
my point is that being able to unlock it yourself allows you to buy one that ISN’T jailbreaked (jailbroken?), saving you a lot of money.

Yeah, I jailbroke my dads iPod Touch so it shouldn’t be too hard. I don’t care if it’s unlocked or not, I just want a 1st gen iPhone.
