This is my first attempt to create a heavy metal logo if thats the correct name for it. I would like to have some suggestions, critics and maybe some tips about creating this kind of type. I'm digging the overall shape of it, just not the texture on the front of it. I can see it working better with a much simpler, less intrusive texture. Its far too clunky and the letter-forms are still not fitting well together. Creating a really good logotype from scratch is one of the most difficult things to do (at least for me). What you may want to try is start with a pre-determined typeface and then apply your concept to it. I'd look for something that is sans serif and has a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_face#Monospaced_typefaces">fixed-width</a> or at least close to it since the shapes you've made are the same width. The best shape out of those characters is the H. I think the E, the L and the D are the weakest though. Try simplifying your shapes (maybe the chiseled edge is only on the bottoms of characters or maybe they are all in the same direction?)
