Critique my new portfolio site

posted 2 months ago by Jon Kruse

I’m using Sharpfolio and I’ve finally got everything the way I want it.

What should I edit out of my website?
What makes me look bad and what makes me look good?

I’m not sure about the header. At one moment I like it then the next I don’t. I’m on the fence.

Comments Please.

Thanks man. I did a ton of work on it the last two days to get the Sharpfolio theme to do what I want.

I see what your saying, but this is a site to contain my work in a simple, easy to navigate system. I think adding any more would only take away from the actual work. I’ve never been a believer in more is better.

Thanks. I guess a small chub is a good thing...

What do you think of the header. Should I try something else?

I think the site is too plain. But other than that the presentation is cool. Maybe a lil description on each project should help.

Do it! I’m sure it will turn out sick.

I agree with you on wanting it to be simple, b/c then it lets your client work do the talking!

    That’s how I see it.

I’ll put some descriptions for the designs in later.

I completely agree with the work standing for itself, but I still think a little more couldn’t hurt.

I like the site a lot. I like clean and your work looks nice on white, makes it really stand out. I also like the header but I don’t think you need it twice. Maybe if it was a little bigger and centered with the content...Just a thought. Nice work though.

It isn’t working right in IE so I’m trying to fix it. Things are getting f’d up.

I don’t know if you can pull it off, but a drop shadow coming off the images I think would do the trick. would make it a little less flat; give it some depth. Also, if every image had text beside it, it would help fill out the site:

I mean you could do a perspective shadow... just something to make it less 2d

Looks great man. Maybe some sort of background image that is very very opaque to break up the "grid-ness" of it? Just a suggestion...

the absolute ONLY thing that bugs me about this is

the top of that is cut off. and it’s not flush with the very top of the page so it looks like its floating and is just a little bit annoying. it’d be awesome if it was the full stroke with no cut off

other than that, it’s simple and serves its purpose! i dig

Hahaha yeah. Everything was fine in Firefox and Google Chrome but I opened up IE and it was fucked up. It’s getting worse while I try and fix it.

    In the CSS, look for the #wrapper and set it to margin:0px auto;

    That might solve the issue.

A dropshadow will make it look weird in lightbox
