Something I've wanted to do for some time now is promote an event out of pocket citing Prestigious as the event sponsor and host. I'd sell merchandise, hold giveaways and contests, provide music, the sale of alcohol and refreshments otherwise, and essentially provide an exciting get-together type atmosphere. I wanted to keep it inexpensive to attend, so I'm only charging five bucks for entry. I'll extend the special pricing for that day at the event into the shop as well through that weekend.

I wasn't sure exactly what kind of event I was looking to host, but I decided to put on a show at a club.

The bill is comprised of a few bands who are either endorsed by Prestigious or friends of mine who happen to play in awesome bands local to western MA.

This is hopefully the first of many periodic events that my brand and I will host. I feel like I'm delving into a new realm of brand promotion with this project, and I'm excited to see how it all unfolds.

This isn't necessarily an "event invitation" (although anyone and everyone is welcome to attend) since we're all scattered about the earth in various nations, but more of an update within the happenings of my brand.

Also, a new design will be available online in a few days. I planned on spilling all the details upon it's release, but I will say that Ryan Miller was involved.

It was up between a Friday evening show or a 48 hour rave starting on a Tuesday morning in an abandoned warehouse facility nearby; the latter had potential (minus the building's condemned status, lack of electricity and scattered disease strewn about) but the former just seemed more feasible in the name of safety and the perpetuity of a positive image.

Jokes aside, I'd like to make these events a monthly thing.

not sure if im wording this right, and you can txt me later if you want to get my full opinion on this, but you hosting shows every month is cool and all (itd be awesome), but hosting then through prestigious seems alittle, idk, insane(?). like, i, with no experience at all, think its outside of the responsibility of your company to the extent that its absurd. like, if you want to branch out and start something like Prestigious Promotions and you think you have the ability to do that, you should, but i really dont think it would be a good idea to try to house it all under the prestigious clothing company (despite the fact that the prestigious name has nothing attached to it, thus allowing you to have it be both a clothing company and a promotional company. hell, you could even shoot porn if you wanted to and it wouldnt be totally off because of the smart name choice (little parenthesis inside of big parenthesis, i saw a porn site a couple weeks back where like half the girls were wearing ez-designed shirts. i didnt post it here, but it had something to do with teenage punk girls starting bands and sleeping with people who could hook them up in the music biz)). yepppp i way lost my train of though on that one...

i dont think it would be unsuccessful by any means (i mean, obviously it could be, but it does not necessarily have to be), and maybe absurd was a strong, or just blatantly wrong, word, but i still think it would be outside of the scope of a 'clothing company' even though william doesnt call himself that. i think there HAS (absolutely, to the extent that i want to bold and underline this as well) to be a division, because then how far is he allowed to take it? if he were to host monthly events that would have the very distinct possibility of overshadowing the clothing-side of prestigious, and as far as i understood, prestigious was not started with those ends in mind, nor has he since starting changed his goals to align with anything like that.

when you held events were the structured around something arbitrary (monthly shows) or were they pertinent to the brand or its affiliates (e.g. release parties, your birthday, a band you sponsor/are friends with is in town for the weekend, or coming home from a tour, etc.)?

and i dont think a first show is a bad idea, or even a host of subsequent shows for that matter, but i do think shows organized on a monthly schedule are. i mean, unless hes going to have a showcase of sponsored bands every month, but that would require either him holding the same show every month (which could work if all those bands have big enough local followings to go see the same-ish lineup every month) or sponsor a lot of different bands.

Bringing people to the venue where they can purchase his shirts would promote brand awareness, not ruin it.

Like Nick said he is doing thing to fucking sell shirts. How do you not get this. He is taking bands that have a fan base and introducing them to his clothes.

Have you ever heard of Vans Warped Tour?
The first word is Vans, they aren't a promotional company.

i think its a great idea and i wish u luck

bands + shirts have a long history together so why not combine the two elements... its logical really. whatever draws the crowds that buy your gear is a good business marketing stratergy. Like redbull and stunt bikes

The problem I've noticed recently is that local promoters haven't been doing such a good job getting the word out about shows at bars and clubs. I used to see bands like With Honor, The Acacia Strain and Malachi Constant play at these same venues my band plays around Chicopee and Springfield, MA; the places would be FILLED. With Prestigious' network and my legwork, I want to help bring the western MA local scene back to life in a sense. That's what this is about. Local shows aren't what they used to be, and with the promotion myself and my brand can offer I can make shows fun again around here. Why not do this frequently? As a function of getting talent together on stage, I can provide a fun atmosphere and hopefully sell a few shirts. Win win.

I think it's a great idea.

I think people/kids these days are forgetting what goes into a clothing range. It's not just going on emptees, hiring designers, printing a small run of shirts, throwing them on big cartel, and wondering/complaining things aren't selling. That's way too easy.

Marketing at any level is important to a range, whether it be online on in-person, grassroots or national. Believe it or not it takes more than I previously mentioned to run a clothing line. It's hardwork!

Anyways, best of luck William on this venture!

and frequently is different than monthly.
i have never said you holding shows is a bad idea.
apparently no one is really reading what i'm saying though, so its fine.
jon doesnt contribute to anything, and no one else has responded to what ive said outside of heavy addressing the overshadowing of the brand, but not the monthly agenda.
