Hello everyone!
A lot of you guys commented about the old Word Apparel layout. Well, ive took a lot into consideration about it and it is now re-done.
I still have a few little extra things to add in there, but it is posted on his myspace now.
So if you left feedback (or didnt lol) about the old layout i did for him check this new one out.
And show your support for his line, its beyond sick!
Thanks,
-Anthony Roe

let me know how it looks
im at work and myspace is blocked
Hands On Clothing said 2 months ago
Id say do a bit more research into other clothing companies, think of a myspace as an advert to sell something, in word! apparels case- clothes.
Make the clothes the main point of the myspace, and remember, a brand name will only sell products once it has been strengthened, use the products to sell themselves at first, and strengthen the brand from that.
Dont take anything i say as golden advice, im no expert, im just throwing in my 10cents!

i do like how its all setup. youre great at coding. however, its a bit bland :/
explodingtoes said 2 months ago
you have GOT to work on your gradients, my friend.
the steps in all of your gradients are way too apparent.
make them fools smooooooth.
also, work on your font choices. that scripty font all over the place is hard to read.
i do think its a step in the right direction though. keep it up anthony!
dobi said 2 months ago
times new roman on myspace = not so hot.
i also think the whole point of myspace is so your customers can discuss stuff, disabling comments and just making it a website is kinda boring.
heroes said 2 months ago
ye i think you should check out what other companies do
i always find nice photos and content driven layouts work best for clothing
your tees are hid in a scroll box they shuold be the focus
also it all looks huge like the font size i think if it was shrunken it would look more pro
levi! said 2 months ago
well i told him to stray away from making the product the main focus because i plan on releasing ALOT of no product.
i want people to have to be directed to a site where they buy from, i dont want to them to look at the myspace and see the products and then leave and say ill look later.
if they get directed to the webstore, then everything is right there in their face, ready to purchase. that way they feel like its ok to buy right then
and its alittle bland, but i wanted it that way
its not done yet, still some flyers coming out, and some more stuff. but i wanted an organized, professional site
i still havent seen it by the way haha
and the updates section will be updated almost daily
Hands On Clothing said 2 months ago
also, at the top, make sure the ad is visible, thats a deletable offence to myspace
levi! said 2 months ago
and i could be thinking wrong to my ideas
let me know if i am
heroes said 2 months ago
ye but in my opinion if i go to the myspace see no tees im not gonna go to the website
: /
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
yeah, he wanted the layout to not completely focus on the products. since he changes up his products so much.
levi! said 2 months ago
well tonight me and anthony are gonna discuss how it turned out and we will see whats up
Mason said 2 months ago
Change up the font
robolove said 2 months ago
Its cool but I am not a fan of times new roman either. Change that and I think your on to a winner.
robolove said 2 months ago
Also I personally wouldnt look at what other brands are doing with theirs, its good to have something different. I dont understand why everyone wants to be the same. I do think its good to have comments and stuff visible though as that is the point of myspace.
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
i actually didnt use any gradients in this one. lol
i used pattern overlays to create the aged kinda look.
thank you so much though, im glad everything is getting better.
skullface said 2 months ago
...Times New Roman isnt even good for essays
dobi said 2 months ago
no product = no care. there are 34423423984 myspace tee pages, showcase what ya got.
Corey said 2 months ago
The Times New Roman Im not a big fan of, Id go with Helvetica cant go wrong with it. Also when I look at the layout there isnt anything that makes me think about the Word brand besides the big logo, which to me doesnt really looks like it belongs on this particular layout. Also the color scheme is a little eh and I think the textures you used are kind of the same. Again the coding and layout of everything could work but the design needs a little more to it.

Im confused as to what you mean by "i plan on releasing ALOT of no product."
fyi im also at work and Myspace is also blocked for me so im afraid i have nothing constructive to add to this thread as of yet
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
i just took that quote from what he said, i just noticed that lol.
i think it was meant to say, i plan on releasing a lot of NEW products lol
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
Times New Roman is gone!
Buck Nasty said 2 months ago
merchandise box is too small, you shouldnt have to scroll to see the whole image of the shirts
also put some padding-top on the updates box for your text, it is too close to the edge
levi! said 2 months ago
why in the world would i want my page to look like everyone elses?
thats like saying, you want to wear the the same clothing as everyone else
or drive the same car as everyone else
people like different stuff
thats one reason why my company has grown alot in the past months. my stuff (well the designers i use) are different
i know alot of people on here dont like me, dont know why, but it doesnt matter, but being like everyone else kinda defeats the purpose of having your own line right?
robolove said 2 months ago
I believe so.
swonkee said 2 months ago
No offense, but all of your myspace designs look like they are from 1997. YOU HAVE TO STAY UP WITH THE COMPETITION! Even if levi is doing new products frequently, the shirts need to be the focus (Cannot be in a little scroll box). Your myspace is often your first impression of a band or company and if you are not seeing their product right off the bat, they are going to leave right away. The layout in no way reflects the designS (And he has some amazing designs!) I like continuity between the layout and the shirt designs.
levi! said 2 months ago
well i dont want the myspace to be the first impression of the company
it has to be right now while the website is being built but i want the website to be the point of contact
or events that im at
not myspace
kids get on myspace to interact, not to shop
Corey said 2 months ago
I dont think everyone means go look at Xs layout and copy it. I think theyre saying look at successful lines and how they use their myspace to represent their brand and implement techniques they use in the layout that helps them be successful, into the design with your own style. If that makes any sense. I dont think theyre saying go copy the code to Glamour Kills layout or anything.
robolove said 2 months ago
I agree with this:
But there isnt much opportunity for interactivity on your myspace.
bandwagonmerch said 2 months ago
Looks Ok. Scrolling is not fun though. Kill the scroll boxes ASAP id say.
heroes said 2 months ago
if you dont use myspace to its full potential then more fool you
levi! said 2 months ago
thats true
i would like to see a comment section
and im sure anthony sees this haha
LitoQ said 2 months ago
I would think rolling out new stuff constantly would be a BIG reason to have those designs be the selling point of the page... i mean, if your gimmick is having new products constantly wouldnt the best way to display that be to show the products themselves?
just sayin... still havent seen the page =/
levi! said 2 months ago
thats a good point
i just dont want the myspace to be the face of the company
myspace isnt serious enough
and this company is serious...(see what i mean?)
LitoQ said 2 months ago
oh yeah I definitely agree, but that doesnt mean cut yourself off at the kness...
just means make sure your company website or your store front have that extra wow factor... myspace is still huge in terms of getting your name out.
robolove said 2 months ago
I use myspace as just a click through to my website really and to get a bit of feedback from customers on.
The main advantage to myspace is that posting a bulletin can have the same effect as sending out an e-mail to everyone on your mailing list.
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
not trying to sound like a jerk, but i guess i just dont see that.
i have a professional/clean design style. i dont know if that qualifies into the 1997 era, but if so then sure.
DrewGliever said 2 months ago
I hate to agree, because you seem like a really nice guy.. but it does kind of seem that way.
your coding is always super legit and flawless, but theres something about your layouts that doesnt look too modern.. I think what he meant by '1997' is that they look so rigid.. its a series of boxes.
find that one thread where everyone was posting awesome layouts, and study them to the core.. and even if you dont do that, Im sure youll get awesome with time and practice.
also, buy a few graphics/design books for a bit of inspiration.
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
thanks dude i appreciate the kind words there.
and yeah, im sure theres more that i could do graphically with my layouts. i guess i kinda lack in it usually b/c im more about clean/organized things ya know. lol
and yeah, i am actually going to hit up barnes and noble soon to get some. that was one thing i told myself that i needed to do when i quit school so i could still further my skills.
any good recommendations dude?
DrewGliever said 2 months ago
I dont know what would be a good selection when it comes to more web layout type stuff [I dont do web junk]
just pick up some books, flip through, and buy the sweet ones!
Corey said 2 months ago
I really like What Is Graphic Design by Quentin Newark.
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
okay cool. ill have to see what they have for sure.
i used to always read the graphic design mags from there and there was always super ridiculous stuff in them lol.
and drew this is gonna sound jerkish no matter how i say it, but i dont mean it that way at all lol
but youve gotten a whole lot nicer on here haha. kudos to that :)
ChadDoesDesign said 2 months ago
This thread reminded me that I wanted to use new times roman on the rocket to the moon space. :(
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
haha! i just changed his space over to helvetica (as recommended above lol)
and i like that layout man! good job!
ChadDoesDesign said 2 months ago
Thanks man, I totally forgot about that when coding it, But anyway This layout doesnt have friends or comments. So you shouldnt be worried about the scroll bars. Just code two different column and let those suckers stretch out. It should look a lot cleaner and most scroll bars look ugly.
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
haha yeah, i didnt even think about changing the text til everyone said stuff about it lol.
yeah, ive got everything set to be the dimensions of the actual design so i cant really make a quick easy change ya know :/
explodingtoes said 2 months ago
i meant on the animated banner you posted! i thought thats what you were asking for feedback on at first
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
haha!!! nah, it just had the link to his profile haha.
www.myspace.com/wordapparel
check it out bro lol.
swonkee said 2 months ago
awaken...I think my comment came off kinda rude and that was not the intention b/c i agree with everyone on here that you are an awesome guy just looking for some honest advice and opinions. I totally agree with everyone about your coding, it is very clean and looks sharp. Levi...while your myspace may not be your primary focus, it has to be up to par with your website. Kids are going to find your myspace before they find your website (unless you are doing targeted marketing). While it is just a social site, kids can much easier spread the word (no pun intended) about your clothing line than through your website. You gotta utilize every avenue even if it is not your primary site. The shirts have got to be more evident on the page.
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
hey man its cool.
i appreciate your kind words, it means a lot.
ive really worked to perfect my coding, although im not where id like to be yet im getting there :)
and i will do what i can with the space for the merchandise to really make his products stick out. also i might have one other idea that would be helpful and wouldnt require me to do a full re-design.
awakendesigncompany said 2 months ago
To everyone who has complimented on my coding, thank you all so much.
It really does not get old hearing kind words about it. I used to be awful at coding, and was very self-conscious in my ability to do it. But i am thankful to be improving and your alls kind words really do mean a lot to me, and motivate me to keep learning!
