<body>Hopefully this can get added to the &lt;a href="http://www.emptees.com/posts/81191-look-before-you-post"&gt;Look Before You Post&lt;/a&gt; sticky.

If you're going to post a cattle call for designers, follow a few simple guidelines that will help save everyone some time as well as make you seem a bit more professional.

1) Post your contact information (name, email, website, etc..) clearly in the thread.

2) State what kind of design style you're looking for. Don't just say "I'm looking for some designs". Again, save everyone, including yourself, some time and post what type of designers you're looking for.

3) Lastly, and most importantly, POST YOUR PRICE. Again, save everyone some time. If your budget is $100 that's going to attract a different type of designer than if your budget is $400. No sense in hiding it. It's going to come out sooner or later, so go ahead and just be up front.

I promise if you follow these simple guidelines, you'll have a much more enjoyable Emptees experience and will gain a lot of respect because of your professionalism.</body>

Totally agree, it gets a bit old when clients don't email back because the price wasn't right..I don't mind if they change their mind about working with me, but I'd like to know if they don't.</body>

<body>To play devils advocate, why can't we as designers do a follow up email asking said client if they have move forward at all? Worse case is they got caught up in some emails and forgot about you, you might get a new contact that way, just a different way to approcah something that seems to be a sour note around here.</body>

really? ive never had a potential employer do that before.

like integral said, the proactive thing to do would be to follow up. Otherwise, move on, expecting a let down email just seems unrealistic to me. </body>

<body>Even better why don't I just say I'm available for hire at $350 per design, I do line heavy, abstract portraits, and let clients line up to get some of my awesome sauce. Did I mention as a perk of working with me you get great exposure on my vast global internet network when I tell everyone how happy I was to work with you and where to buy shirts and so on.

I have had potential clients ask about work/pricing. I provide the details to them and to no avail hear nothing back at all. I have then also sent a follow up email asking about the email and still, nothing back.

Would love to know though either way so im not wondering about that work.</body>

So stop wondering. Until we strike an agreement and I'm paid, there is no work. It's not on my schedule or in my mind. No sense in worrying about work you might or might not get.</body>
