But hundreds of thousands have been affected. +As of the latest news, so far over 246 were killed and 340,000+ affected by the Typhoon. +This has been the highest recorded amount of rainfall since in our country 1967, and exceeds the rainfall level of Hurricane Katrina (380 mm). +As of now, 4 days after, there are still families stranded on the rooftops of their homes or on top of cars and buses without food and potable water. +Most relief aid is coming from volunteers. As the government is in no state to help the country and the communications lines are down. So my wife and I are doing our part and trying to help out. We are sending out googoo&gaga stuff to an orphanage and a government baby/mother hospital. We are also buying some food and water supplies to give out to the hundreds of relief operations in the metro.
