New johnny cupcakes line

posted about 1 month ago by tylerceerius

What are your thoughts on his new line and new website.

The website is basically the same thing, in my opinion. I was expecting a lot of his website after seeing his stores.

Whats your favorite new shirt? I think i like the "Coffin" the best.

I love the website, I think clark did a super job on it. I’m stoked to wear these tees

    (brains, coffin, haunted house one)

and i agree with kyle, i think he’s got more to come.

No offense man, cause I feel ya on how expensive that is for just a tee, but you gotta keep it in perspective. Lots of people are still buying them up at that price tag. Plus there are plenty of other brands (Ed Hardy, Affliction, Billionaire Boys Club, etc.) who are charging almost twice as much anyways. It makes a lot of sense for him to charge a premium price for his products, even if it is a little expensive.

i disagree. look at johnny’s stores. those are clearly where the investment is going. i think just going into those stores gives his customers their money’s worth. plus people make the choice here, they buy what they want to buy. that’s key... people can buy shirts for cheaper but they choose to buy jc’s stuff.
from his stores, his designs which he pays designers to make, his photos on the site which are really good, his awesome site layout, his custom sewn tags (he has 2 on each shirt), his packaging, making everything in a limited run, all of that stuff is expensive and it’s all part of why people are fine with paying 40 bucks for one of his tees

He’s a good business man.. plus he charges that much because he’s so hands on with his business that he deserves to make that much profit.. plus he has workers which are mostly family and friends and he’s not about to pay them crap money, ya deeg? All that i’m saying is he’s been a huge inspiration to everyone and we should all learn something from him. He’s not a super genius or anything but he thought everything through, he made plans, concepts, ideas for everything including his store.. he’s 5 or even 10 years ahead in his plans when he started.. i give big props to him and it is well deserved, unless if he’s a murderer! lol

First of all, my t-shirts are NOT $40.

I might sell a super-duper limited one for a bunch more, but for the most part the NEW ones are $35.99 ($35.00 in store)

I do have a BAKESALE section that has shirts for $19.99-$24.99

There are so many brands that charge double what I charge. I don’t think my core customers are buying my shirts based on price, design or cool factor any ways. Design + concept may play a part of it, but for the most part...

    -They appreciate what’s behind it.
-They enjoy the home grown, family feel. All of my friends and family work with me and we try our best to make the customer feel a part of that.
-They like my story and the fact that I haven’t put my shirts in chain stores or sold out to any investors.
-My brand is very personal. They like the fact that I go into my stores and kick it with my customers. You don’t see Ralph Lauren or Marc Jacobs hanging out in their shops or chit chatting on message boards here and there. To each his own though. My way is NOT the right way, it just works best for me.

*My brand is my baby. If someone offered me $40 BILLION dollars, I would not accept it. I wouldn’t sell my brand for all the money in the world. It’s gotten this far and it’s only the beginning.

You’re a complete inspiration. The effort you put into making each and every customer feel wanted and special, and not just a random customer, is amazing.

That kind of dedication to be something unique instead of a "sell-out" is a fresh thing in this industry, and is something i’ll be doing my absolute best to do as well when i start up my line (whenever that is....i’m not rushing it. I’ll be launching when i feel everything is right).

Keep active around here Johnny, i love reading what you write, as i’m sure everyone else does.

I might sell a super-duper limited one for a bunch more, but for the most part the NEW ones are $35.99 ($35.00 in store) I do have a BAKESALE section that has shirts for $19.99-$24.99 There are so many brands that charge double what I charge. I don’t think my core customers are buying my shirts based on price, design or cool factor any ways. Design + concept may play a part of it, but for the most part... -They appreciate what’s behind it. -They enjoy the home grown, family feel. You still need to open stores up in the UK. We are waiting.

I love that your brand is as personal as it is. I think everyone here respect your company.

Uhh... I would trade my baby for 40 million dollars.

Johnny I like what you’re doing. I can honestly say the people talking trash are just jealous and wish they had a shirt-thirsty cult following every step they’d take.

To be honest I think you could charge more (but don’t I can’t afford it right now with our great economy). The story I get to tell myself (and others) every time I wear your shirts is worth it. Keep it up!

2 suggestions though about the site.

    1. It’s SO slow. In an effort to make it look better (which you did) it slowed it down to the point where it’s a bad experience.

    2. Your blog: You might have a reason for this for which case just ignore this. But why don’t you have specific URLs for each post so we can link to a post rather then the entire blog? I wanted to show my friends your video of the LA shop. It took forever to find it (No search, No separation of posts).

    a. Concerning the blog. Why not make it easy for me to Digg, Stumbleupon, Send to Facebook, etc.? The easier you make it for me to spread the word the more I can do it.

Anyway just some thoughts. I love what you are doing. If someone bought you out they’d be stupid. It’s your story and as soon as that changes the shirts I own of yours, change.

I missed your opening by one day in LA. I was so mad. I wanted that Light blue shirt of California with the Chef’s hat. Don’t know when I’ll be able to make it back there.

Keep doing what your doing. Fire the people who don’t get it.

    new line = boring

The coffin and brains tees are the only interesting ones. I’m just tired of his 1 color $35.00 shirts. Not really digging the vampire...i like the idea but not the illy.

Hopefully the BIG release won’t be a let down
