Chris, I think the printer might have used index color separation for this. I'm not sure though. At our shop we use spot process color separation software, which can get up there in colors if you're going for alot of color accuracy.
If I'd separated this, I think I could have gotten it down to about 5 colors.

Thanks for sharing, bro. Been meaning to ask the same question too, as I've also wanted my art to go towards this direction.

Do you sep your colors on your own for this kind of image though? I tried doing it myself before, but I've never achieved good results.

Would it be wiser then to just send the client/printer the high-res jpeg, and let them do the color-separation?

As much as I'd like to sep them myself, I let the printer do it.
I think most prefer to do it themselves. I know I do! I had one client/artist that insisted on using his seps even though I knew they wouldn't work. So we did a sample with his seps, and a sample with mine. He picked mine. :)

Alex Norman said: It reminds me of this a fair bit

Cool work though, love the colours and the flames :)

basically every satanic ritual is depicted the same way, i love the peice but being a detail whore wished the mechanics of the robot goat was a lot more intricate. Either way i love the work :)
