The idea behind this design was to create something that was reminiscent of "The Death Knight" that appears in a lot of MMO's and RPG's like World of Warcraft, Dungeons and Dragons, and Magic the Gathering. They wanted something that was dark and magical and would also appeal to their gaming audience.
