Yeah this just came up from a quick (and novice) sketch i did on piece of lined paper in class. I just had it lying around so I decided to scan it in and figure out the pen tool. I'm working on new ideas now, but I'll probably end up re-working this with a photograph like you suggested or just take more time with a new illustration.
I'm glad you think it's a solid concept, though!
