<body>I think that the text is pretty sweet, the colors and distress are awesome, and the linework is great. The lines in some places make me think of Lenjer, which is amazing.

I think the core illustration is pretty weak though. I generally wouldn't comment, figuring that maybe there's some abstract element that is going over my head, but it keeps me from being able to be way into it. It's like putting a bunch of amazing embellishment on an illo that you didn't put much thought into.

I definitely think that Anatomy, Proportion, and Depth in your figures are holding your work back. I think you have a really strong style, but with a stronger use of the fundamentals, it would be killer.</body>

thanks for the constructive criticism, for sure.
i'd have to disagree on the thought part though, i took alot of time and effort sketching and inking this, and i always try and take my time with each and every piece. if you can tell by my other work, i usually don't do just normal anatomy, i always add some sort of abstract feel to it, with distorted limbs, etc. this piece i think is pretty correct anatomically, i referenced a fetal picture to get the elements correct, but it's supposed to look as if the fetus is being crushed and wrapped up with the leeches.
I've been trying to ink darker and thicker, because it shows up so much better on the actually prints of the design. Trust me, everyone can always improve on proportions and anatomy, that's a never ending cycle of learning. I always try and practice the fundamentals by doing figure sketches in my spare time too. Sorry you feel the illy is weak though...</body>

I'm not sure that Aaron has a problem with the fundamentals.

I think that since his work is surreal in nature, he purposely distorts the proportions to give that uneasy/nightmarish quality that is his mark.

Sure, he could spend his time trying to create a photorealistic piece. But thats not the style he's going for, you know?

The thing about Aaron's work is it invokes a gut reaction. You to either love it or hate it. I personally love it.

<body>Aye, I'm not trying to bash your art or say you don't spend enough time on it. I have been a supporter of your art on Emptees since way back in the early days. Just wanted to make that clear.

I just feel that if you pushed the rendering of your figures further that your art would be stronger. I may be incorrect, a big part of criticism is knowing what to ignore. Hah.

Nothing but love man.</body>

<body>I agree with Heavyprints 100% and am glad he brought it up.
I have been a bit apprehensive to criticize your work for many reasons, however I always have felt that your art lacks depth. It feels very flat, to be honest.

I would try working more with line variations and a light source. Even if you put in highlights, it would help a ton.

I really like Aaron Crawford's style such as it is. I understand what Heavyprints is saying, but I wouldn't change a thing.</body>
