Cruiserweight “where is my head?”

commissioned to do 3 shirts for cruiserweight.

wanted to give the shopper some options. gonna go with a type based shirt, a hand illustrated shirt, and this one a vectory looking shirt.

all the artwork in due tuesday so any quick critiques would be reaaaaaal nice.

Love the colours but not sure about being on a blue shirt.

i dont mind the blue shirt. could work well on cream too.

critique: the man is a bit too....dirty? just a little bit too gritty for my taste. all that white is distracting the initial read. i would clean him up. perhaps live trace him so he pairs better with the vector work coming out of his head? i would suggest blackening his body so the detail is focused on his face.

also, i like the tilt seen on the design on the right. i would suggest having that tilt on the design that is on the shirt. mainly so that all those lines are pointing roughly to the left shoulder instead of the armpit.

thanks so much! they accepted the design, but I’ll talk to them about tilting it a bit more.

its always good to get really detailed critiques even if it is a bit too late. things to think about for the next shirt.
