Not a whole lot to say about it, except that I think this is the first time I've tried blending these two styles (the streetsy cartoon feel + swirly vector stuff), so that was fun.

Dead To Me asked me to do a shirt for them including an african elephant and the golden gate bridges. I also included the state flowers and a heart locket cause one of the dudes in the band said he wanted a heart but I didn’t want it make it obvious or corny. The front has the image and the back has their name in the middle of the shoulders. If you haven’t heard this band yet, you should!

This design was accepted as band merch for one of those “merch company” bands that I have never listened to. Kids love the band though. The accepted design has the band logo worked in, but I left it out for this mockup.
You might see this in Hot Topic in some bastardized form (printed centered at 8×10 would be terrible) but this is my original design.
I would be amazed to see if they print it as it looks in the mockup and maintain the integrity.
Anyway, here it is!

Remember how flat, 2D and simple old Nintendo games looked? No complicated codes for special moves or secrets rooms. You just ran, jumped, shot fireballs or bullets, crashed and died. Remember when life was that simple? Going outside to play, watching Ninja Turtles, running off the bus on a Friday afternoon and it being the highlight of your week. It’s fun to look back but our lives these days are like popular video games and we are the <span class="caps">PS3</span>’s, the X-Boxes, the computers. Complicated, full of complex situations, in need of meticulous programming to survive. Maybe you enjoy this design because it has a sweet dragon on it that glows under a black light, or maybe it’s because it brings back memories of your childhood.
